A tapas restaurant has launched a competition to find its official tapas taster.
Bar 44 has created the competition to coincide with the launch of its third restaurant in Cardiff city centre, which will open on Friday 19th June.
The award-winning restaurant is looking for someone to become its official tapas taster who will be able to try new menus before they are launched, enjoy discounts and receive two tickets to the exclusive VIP opening event on the 18th June.
To enter, people need to state their favourite tapas dish and why they deserve to be Bar 44’s official tapas taster. Entries can be submitted via twitter by tweeting @bar44cardiff and using the hashtag #Bar44tapastaster or via email firstname.lastname@example.org.
The new establishment comprises restaurant space to accommodate 120 diners, two kitchens, including an open kitchen offering a Spanish pantry menu, private function space for group and corporate dining and event bookings, and a large bar serving Spanish wines, cocktails, beer and cider.
Two new menus have been designed specifically for the new venue, including an express lunch menu which will be available in the day for shoppers and business people wanting a quick bite to eat.
Owen Morgan, co-founder of Bar 44, said: “We’re thrilled to be opening our third restaurant in Cardiff. Tapas cuisine has gained popularity over the last few years so we wanted to launch this competition to find someone who really enjoys the food and can help us achieve our aim to put Wales on the map for our contemporary twist on Spanish cuisine. We looking forward to receiving the entries and working closely with the winner in the future.”
Bar 44 in Cowbridge was established in 2002 due to the Morgan brothers’ love for fresh Spanish food, having holidayed there as a family. The success of the Cowbridge restaurant led the brothers to open their second restaurant in Penarth in 2012.
The restaurants have received UK-wide recognition from the Observer Food Monthly Awards 2013 and Bar 44 in Cowbridge has recently been awarded Waitrose Good Food Guide’s Restaurant of the Year for Wales.
It follows being included in The Sunday Times Food List Cheap Eats Guide, which profiles 130 restaurants in the UK that provide value for money food, and runner up for Best Spanish Wine list for independent restaurants in the prestigious UK wide Harpers’ Wine awards.
The competition is now open and will close at midnight on Sunday 14th June
