Brewin Dolphin has added to its sailing sponsorship portfolio as the Swansea office becomes title sponsor of the Tenby Sailing Club.
As part of the company’s 250th anniversary celebrations, one of the UK’s leading independent private client investment management firms, will also sponsor the 2012 National Enterprise Championships that takes place at Tenby Sailing Club between 11 – 17 August, which will see over 100 sailors descend on Tenby for the week-long event organised by the Enterprise Association UK.
In this milestone year for Brewin Dolphin, the Swansea Vale-based office, which represents private investors, charities and pension fund holders across the breadth of West Wales, will support Tenby Sailing Club for the season as they continue to provide sailing, sail racing, sailing events and social functions to junior, adult and senior members across Pembrokeshire.
The sponsorship in Wales, adds to other sailing sponsorships around the country including The Royal Southern Yacht Club Anniversary Regatta and The Brewin Dolphin British Open Metre Regatta, as well as a major new sponsorship of the Commodores’ Cup sailing championship.
There are a number of other ways that the Swansea office will celebrate this landmark year for the firm, including an event for clients at the National Botanic Gardens of Wales, a 250th anniversary book which tells the story of the company, past and present and a Brewin Dolphin day for staff in support of Wales’s largest cancer charity Tenovus at Chepstow Racecourse.
Richard Kelly, Director at Brewin Dolphin in Swansea said: “We are delighted to be celebrating our 250th anniversary. We believe that the key to our success lies in the fact that our approach to our clients is the same as it always has been: we work on the basis of long and established relationships where we really get to know our clients, and we take very seriously the responsibility of managing their wealth.”
“We are pleased to be marking this anniversary with our new sponsorship of Tenby Sailing Club and look forward to building a long term relationship with the Club, its members and competitors. We have an established history of supporting the sport through our other offices, so it’s great to be able to put something into the sport in Wales. We have become very well known in Swansea and we are now looking to build brand awareness further West. This sponsorship is the start of this journey as we look to build relationships with private clients, charities and IFAs in Pembrokeshire.”
Blake Shaw, secretary at Tenby Sailing Club, said: “Tenby Sailing Club is delighted to be associated with Brewin Dolphin and is certain that the link will continue to the benefit of both parties. We are continually striving to both maintain and improve facilities and services to members and the sponsorship will mean extra revenue to help achieve these aims. The money this year will also help to make the Enterprise Nationals at Tenby a success and will assist us in our efforts of becoming a Volvo Champion Club which involves having a thriving junior section with progression and encouragement for youngsters to progress to Welsh Squad level and beyond.”
Brewin Dolphin’s origins can be traced back to 1762 when the stockbroking firm John Dawes (one of the founders of the London Stock Exchange) was established. Since then they have had several name changes and have gone on to become one of the country’s largest independent investment management companies, managing over £25 billion of client funds across 41 offices.
Since the Swansea office was opened in October 2007 by Richard Croydon and Richard Kelly, the team has grown to nine members of staff with £680m funds under management in Wales.
