Herbert R Thomas (HRT) estate agent has announced the winners of its Oldcastle Primary School colouring competition.
The Bridgend-based estate agent launched the competition for children in reception to year five and asked pupils to simply colour in a HRT house and present it to their teachers.
After deliberating over the entries, Rafferty Williams, aged five from reception, Seren Cook, aged seven from year one, seven-year-old Sophie Williams from year two, eight-year-old Isabella George from year three, Layla Johns aged nine from year four and ten-year-old April Davies from year five, were chosen as the winners.
Each winner was awarded a £25 gift card for the Odeon cinema.
HRT has formed a strong relationship with Oldcastle Primary School after sponsoring the school’s PTA as part of the launch of its Bridgend office in August 2014.
Over the last year, HRT has attended school fetes, climbed Snowdon in order to raise money to buy new books as well as running a digital leaders masterclass to teach year six pupils photography skills.
Gavin Rees, partner at HRT, said: “We wanted to create a competition that was fun for the children, and we believe we succeeded in this endeavour. We received over 130 entries and the standard of the entries was superb, which made judging very difficult. We’re glad the pupils enjoyed the competition and we hope the winners have a great time using their Odeon gift cards over the summer holidays.
“As a local business, we think it is important to do whatever we can to support the Bridgend community, such as supporting local PTAs. We’ve also sponsored local events in the area such as Mair’s Walk and Jam in the Castle and this is something we’d like to continue to do in the future.”
Mr Thompson, head teacher of Oldcastle Primary School, said: “Having HRT supporting our PTA has benefitted the school immensely over the last year. HRT has organised for the children to take part in various experiences throughout the year, such as the digital leaders scheme, which would not have been possible without them.
“The colouring competition was a great way to end the school term and we’d like to thank HRT for donating the prizes, which I’m sure the children will enjoy over the summer holidays.”
