A new bar, which will serve over 80 beers from 20 countries worldwide, opened in the heart of Cardiff city centre on the 15th January.
Barley & Rye – Bier Bar and Kitchen is situated at number 2 Greyfriars Road.
The venue will create up to 25 jobs and will have the capacity for over 250 people.
With a particular focus on European brands of beer, the venue will also serve a range of speciality whiskeys.
Head chef Gareth Dobbs has designed a menu with dishes to complement each beer, with the aim of providing customers with beer and food matching options.
Featuring a modern and rustic design, Barley & Rye has created the venue which includes a mixture of booth, bench and traditional restaurant seating options.
The venue will be hosted an opening night on Friday 15th January where ex-Welsh rugby player Tom Shanklin was the guest speaker.
At the event, local businesses and organisations were able to preview the venue and sample a range of world beers and canapés before it opened to the public at 21:00.
Nathan Gee, director for Barley & Rye, said: “We’re really excited to launch Barley & Rye in Cardiff with it being one of the fastest growing cities in the UK, it’s a great time to start a new venture.
“We felt there was a gap in the market for a bar which served a variety of beers, paired with food and in a unique and original venue, which is how we developed the concept of Barley & Rye.
“With such a range of beers to choose from, we really do have something for everyone and we’re looking forward to people coming to us to expand their beer knowledge and to try something new.
“We’re also thrilled to welcome our head chef Gareth to the team who really has come up with some delicious dishes which we know the people of Cardiff will love!”
Barley & Rye will be open 11:30 to 24:00, 7 days a week and will also be available to book for private functions.
