Traveline Cymru is urging travellers in Wales to come forward as ‘Traveline Heroes’ to be in with the chance of winning a host of prizes.
The public transport information service in Wales will be searching for Hero case studies from people that have benefitted from using Traveline Cymru’s services, as part of its new campaign.
Nine customers from around Wales have already been selected as ‘Traveline Heroes’ to feature in the organisation’s advertising campaign, but more are now encouraged to come forward to be in with the chance of winning prizes including Apple iPads, iTunes vouchers and magazine subscriptions.
Featured in the campaign is Mark Lyddon, from Bridgend, who used the Traveline Cymru’s @TravelineTim twitter feed to check he could catch the bus to work during the snow and Beth Rees, from Cardiff, who uses the Traveline Cymru app to find bus times.
Users can apply by visiting www.travelineheroes.info and by completing a simple form explaining why they deserve to win. Customers can also enter weekly competitions to win iTunes vouchers on Instagram by posting their travel pictures with the hashtag #TravelineHeroes.
Jo Foxall, marketing manager at Traveline Cymru, said:
“All of our customers are heroes in our eyes and we’re thrilled we are able to reward them with prizes and by giving them the ‘Traveline Hero’ status. Anyone can apply by going online and simply telling us how they have benefitted from using Traveline Cymru’s services.
“We have already featured some great real-life stories in our advertising campaign and we hope that more people will see the benefits of our services so that their commutes become as simple and stress-free as possible.”
Traveline Cymru allows users to access travel information for bus, coach, ferry, air and rail services and a new cycling journey planner via a bilingual website, a bilingual call centre based in North Wales, or via Facebook and Twitter.
Customers can also download Traveline Cymru’s free, bilingual app for iphone and android users which can plan journeys, find the nearest bus stop and search for community transport or park and ride information.
During 2012, Traveline Cymru delivered 3 million pieces of travel information to Welsh commuters, rising from 2 million in the previous year.
Welsh TV presenter Iolo Williams, who is Traveline Cymru’s official ambassador, said: “Last year Traveline Cymru reached record results by providing 3 million pieces of travel information to Welsh commuters. This goes to show how much of a valued service it provides to people in Wales. It is great that those users are now being rewarded by this new campaign.”
Users can find examples of ‘Traveline Heroes’ on Facebook, by using the #TravelineHeroes hashtag on Twitter or by viewing the #TravelineHeroes boards on Pinterest.
