The Radisson Blu Hotel in Cardiff has appointed a new general manager as it enters a new stage in its growth plans under the management of Interstate Europe.
Jean-Marc Poumel joins the four-star, award-winning hotel following a change in its management company.
Originally from France, Mr Poumel moved to the UK in 1990 and has worked in the hospitality industry for over 26 years, starting in catering and moving into hotel and resort management.
He has worked for award-winning hotels, including the Macdonald Elmers Court Hotel & Resort in the New Forest and the Celtic Manor in Newport.
As general manager of the 215-bedroom Radisson Blu hotel in the heart of the city centre, his role will see him overseeing the day-to-day running of the hotel in addition to managing the 67 members of staff and maintaining the high standards of the Radisson Blu brand. Mr Poumel is working on the hotel’s development plans, which includes updating the restaurant and introducing an in-house spa facility.
He will also focus on growing the hotel’s client base by strengthening and developing relationships with established and new guests.
Mr Poumel said: “I’m very excited to be joining the Radisson Blu hotel team in Cardiff. This is an exciting time at the hotel, as we are hoping to develop our current facilities, open our spa and treatment rooms, and increase our share of the corporate event market within the city.
“I’m keen to ensure we maintain the high standards offered by the Radisson Blu brand, alongside developing current and new relationships with businesses and organisations around Cardiff and South Wales.”

Found in the heart of Cardiff, within a two-minute walk of the city centre, the Radisson Blu hotel offers 215 rooms and suites, an onsite bar and restaurant, and can cater for events and meetings for up to 350 guests.
