Corporate law firm Greenaway Scott has appointed three new members of staff to assist the growing business.
Kerry Davies, Laura Herdman and Kate Matthews join the firm which was set up by corporate finance and commercial law specialist Nigel Greenaway at the beginning of January.
Kerry, from Swansea, joins as a Practice Manager with 20 years experience in the sector, having been a commercial solicitor for Eversheds. Kerry is relocating back to Wales from Manchester, and in her new role, Kerry will provide assistance, team supervision, client research and administrative support to Greenaway Scott.
Kate Matthews, from Newport, joins as a HR consultant from Catherine Wheel HR. Qualified by the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development, Kate will link in with Greenaway Scott’s employment law services providing human resources advice to the firm’s clients.
Laura Herdman, from Neath, has been appointed as the firm’s first trainee solicitor. With a law degree and LPC from Swansea University, Laura has spent the past two years working as a Legal Assistant at Morgan Cole LLP in Cardiff.
On joining Greenaway Scott, Laura said: “I was delighted to secure the role at Greenaway Scott. In the current market there are very few corporate and commercial firms who are expanding and even fewer actually committing to trainee solicitors. The firm itself is exciting and has a great atmosphere. I know Nigel is extremely well regarded and one of the leading corporate lawyers in Wales and I look forward to working with him. ”
Providing corporate, commercial and employment advice to companies, charities, co-operatives and community benefit societies, Greenaway Scott was set up by Nigel Greenaway in January of this year. Operating from a 2,000 sq ft office at The Maltings in Cardiff, Greenaway set up the firm with the aim of providing a new style of law firm by building a strong team of advisors that are highly commercial and business focussed.
On the firm’s latest appointments, Nigel said: “The firm has got off to a great start and I have been overwhelmed by the support and well wishes we have received. We continue to gain momentum with our expansion plans so it is great to have Kate, Laura and Kerry as additions to the team. To have an in-house HR specialist is relatively unique for a commercial law firm in Wales and Kate’s experience will undoubtedly complement and enhance our employment law service. All three women have the experience and skill set we need and will be a huge asset as we hit the ground running with our founder clients.”
