A health board in Wales is using the latest 360-degree video technology to give potential new recruits the chance to get a glimpse of what it has to offer.
As part of its #JoinCwmTaf recruitment campaign, Cwm Taf University Health Board has tapped into the highly interactive video phenomenon in a bid to attract more doctors from across Wales, the UK and overseas to work at the health board.
Showcasing its health park, general and district hospitals, prospective medical staff get an immersive visual experience of what it’s like to work at Cwm Taf.
With panoramic views of Cardiff city centre, the Brecon Beacons and the Heritage Coast, the recruitment video also gives those looking for a career change the chance to visualise themselves living in south Wales.
When viewed on a mobile device or through virtual reality headsets, the 360-degree video gives viewers the capability to change their viewpoint or move around within the video to explore the environment.
This is the latest innovative move from the health board in its #JoinCwmTaf recruitment drive after winning a Healthcare People Management Association (HPMA) Excellence Award for its nursing campaign.
The campaign complements the Welsh Government’s #TrainWorkLive campaign to attract medical students, GPs and nurses to Wales.
Kamal Asaad, Medical Director at Cwm Taf University Health Board, said: “We are on the lookout for skilled medical staff to join our team. We know that what we have to offer is pretty unique but it’s hard to appreciate it unless you experience it for yourself. Our 360-degree video is designed to do just that.
“It gives potential new recruits the chance to immerse themselves in our unique environment and see for themselves what our health board and the wider south Wales area has to offer.
“With cutting edge facilities, career development and progression opportunities, an excellent standard of living and a community spirit that is like nowhere else in the world, we’re confident that what we have to offer will be attractive to those looking for a career change.”
In addition to the 360-degree video, nine consultants and doctors from the health board star in the campaign. In a series of short videos, medical staff with a variety of specialities, share their experiences of working for the health board and living in the region, which covers Rhondda Cynon Taf and Merthyr Tydfil.
Entitled ‘C is for….’, the campaign showcases life at Cwm Taf focussing on the unique culture, clinical leadership, career progression, camaraderie and community spirit that exists.
Joanna Davies, Director of Workforce and Organisational Development at Cwm Taf University Health Board, said: “When we surveyed our staff on what they liked best about working for the health board, the overwhelming response was the staff.
“We couldn’t agree more! Our workforce are our great asset so we felt that there is nobody better to promote working at Cwm Taf than our current medical staff. We are delighted with the final campaign which we hope will entice new doctors from across the world to join the health board.”
Cwm Taf University Health Board employs 8,000 staff, 643 of which are doctors. Based in the heart of the south Wales valleys, it has two General Hospitals, four Community Hospitals and two Health Parks.
